Two of Bridgestone Top 100 Places to Stay in Ireland 2012 are in Westmeath

Lough Bishop House, Collinstown and the Wineport Lodge, Glasson, feature in the Bridgestone 100 Best Places to Stay in Ireland 2012.

The guide’s authors and food writers, John and Sally McKenna say that “Lough Bishop House is a place where even the cows have sweet, suggestive names - the real Irish agri-tourism. This is a gorgeous place and a true demonstration farm. There’s nowhere like Lough Bishop.”

Of the Wineport Lodge they say that Ray Byrne marshals a “superb team and so everything here is good as it can be, as good as they can make it, not least the superb modern Irish cooking of chef Cathal Moran which is amongst the best cooking that can be found in the Midlands”.

With such commendations it is no wonder that both Lough Bishop House and the Wineport Lodge are listed as ‘Classic’ places to stay.

The Bridgestone 100 Best guides are published by Estragon Press and have won the international André Simon and Glenfiddich Awards, and the first Slow Food Ireland Media Prize. The guides cost €12 each. For further information, log onto www.bridgestoneguides.com

New Bridgestone Guide app

To celebrate the 21st edition of Ireland’s longest-running review guides, co-authors John and Sally McKenna are launching the first ever Bridgestone Guides apps. There is one app for each guide - the Bridgestone Restaurants app is already available as is the Bridgestone Places to Stay app.

Available from both iTunes and www.bridgestoneguides.com, each app will cost €6.99. The apps were developed by Gary Quinn and Davorka Naletillic.
