At an average of €21,300, Westmeath is the 12th most expensive county in Ireland in which to get married, a study has found.
Based on actual wedding budgets, the study into wedding costs carried out by Irish wedding website WeddingFace.com found that Wicklow is the most expensive county at an average of €22,280, while the cheapest county is Louth with weddings costing an average of €19,820, the only county coming in under €20,000.
Elsewhere in the Midlands, weddings in both Roscommon and Offaly cost a little more than Westmeath weddings, coming ninth and 10th on the list of most expensive counties, both with average costs of €21,355. Longford is further down the list, with weddings there costing an average of €21,030.
September is the most popular month to get married, with 15 per cent of all Irish weddings, while January is the least popular on just 2 per cent.
The study also shows that the cheapest month to get married in is January, costing on average €19,780, but couples getting married in June pay nearly €2,500 more.
Overall the average cost of a wedding in Ireland is €21,135, a €1,000 increase on last year.
