Christmas can be a hectic time for those on kitchen duties. Between all the prepping and cooking of Christmas dinner, the baking of cakes and mince pies, and party food that has to be whipped up at a moment’s notice, it can make us not want to enter a kitchen for a very long time!
So treating yourself or a loved one to a delicious meal at the Old House restaurant, at the Annebrook House Hotel in Mullingar could be a perfect Christmas indulgence.
Tucked away on the grounds of the Annebrook House Hotel, the Old House recently launched a new menu, full of fresh ingredients, twists on old favourites, and exciting new dishes, so you’re sure to find a mouth watering meal to get your mind off all the turkey and ham.
For starters why not try their delicious pan roasted Bere Island scallops, Jerusalem artichoke puree, pressed pork belly, and quince jelly; the fresh ogen melon carpaccio with watermelon sorbet, lemon balm, and season’s fruits; or everyone’s favourite baby gem Caesar salad with crispy bacon, croutons, and aged parmesan cheese.
The Old House offers plenty of variety for main course. Keep it traditional with their sirloin steak and fillet beef served with whiskey and peppercorn cream or roast garlic and herb butter, or try something a little more adventurous like their delicious pan flared sea bass fillet with fennel and orange salad, and dressed French beans.
Of course no meal is complete without something sweet and their cappuccino crème brulee with Tia Maria and pistachio biscotti is one choice that is sure to satisfy any craving. If you’d prefer something a little lighter try the tasting plate of home made sorbets and sherbets with fruit puree and crisp biscuits or perhaps the Irish artisan cheese board for two with homemade chutney, crackers, and grapes.
Presentation at the Old House is excellent, and you’ll really feel like you’re getting the best in produce and cooking when you see your meal in front of you all served in cosy surroundings.
As always the Annebrook House Hotel and the Old House offer excellent service and value for money, making every meal at the restaurant something special.
