Westmeath County Council is delighted to host a new exhibition by artist Teresa Doyle entitled ‘Aprons’.
Teresa Doyle (nee ) Kelly, originally from County Offaly has been living and working through the arts in County Westmeath since 1993. She graduated from Limerick School of Art and Design with a Diploma in Fine Art in the early 80s.
She has been the recipient of many awards including a scholarship from The Italian Cultural Institute, bursaries to the Tyrone Guthrie Centre and has received arts grants from Westmeath County Council.
In 2004 she returned to her own professional arts practice creating artworks which have been exhibited nationally and internationally.
Teresa has developed many arts projects and programmes for different groups in the community. This experience was part of the influence that led her to develop the ‘C Both Sides’ postcard exhibition with fellow artist Edel O’Reilly Flynn. ‘C Both Sides’ became a national two-year project with An Post culminating in a national tour in 2009.
Teresa believes that her exchanges with various groups in different settings informs fuels and ferments her practice. More than ever she is enjoying the challenge, the struggle, and the encounter it presents as she continues to develop her artwork.
The ‘Aprons’ exhibition is open in the Atrium, County Buildings, Mullingar, Monday to Friday 9am-5pm, until January 27, 2012.
