Irish Times journalist and author John Waters was in Athlone yesterday to launch the 28th annual exhibition of the Athlone Arts Group. The exhibition is open this Friday December 2 from 10am to 7pm and Saturday December 3 from 10am to 4.30pm in the Prince of Wales Hotel.
A diverse range of paintings are on show, all new works from artists who come from different backgrounds and countries and have made their home in Athlone.
There are a total of 108 paintings including abstract, landscape, and still life, in mediums such as oil acrylic, watercolour, and mixed media.
This year a silent bid has been introduced, whereby, if there is a painting you like but feel the price is too high, you have the opportunity to make a bid for that painting.
Why not come along and enjoy some fine paintings and maybe even take home an original?
Athlone Arts Group would like to thank sponsors Athlone VEC, Westmeath County Council, and also the Prince of Wales Hotel for giving them the venue.
