Abbey Road Artists’ Studios, Athlone presents a free film screening of Art From the Streets on Wednesday December 7 at 5.30pm.
This award-winning documentary follows the lives and art of five homeless individuals in Texas as they create inspiring art and tell their life stories through art. This film has won awards at numerous indie film festivals and always brings inspiration to those who see it.
Facilitating this event is Dr Joan Phillips, who is a current resident in Athlone as a Fulbright Scholar at Athlone Institute of Technology. She has frequently facilitated workshops for art, community, and business groups focusing on creativity, play, and expression. She is a collage and mixed media artist, and published poet. She has credentials as an art therapist, marital and family therapist, and as a counsellor, and specialises in family art therapy, art therapy with sexual abuse issues, and child and adolescent therapy.
