Awards for Westmeath’s innovative farmers

Are you a farmer with a new and innovative business idea? Do you want to gain recognition for yourself and your business, and create jobs on the farm for you and your family? Do you want a share in a €7,000 prize fund? If you answered yes, then read on!

The Westmeath/ Offaly Farm Business Idea awards competition is an initiative of Westmeath Community Development and the Offaly Local Development Company to promote and nurture entrepreneurship among farming communities.

The awards celebrate the achievements, innovations, and hard work which go into new farming businesses. Entering the competition will give you and your family the recognition you deserve and open doors to new industry contacts and clients, as well as PR and marketing for your business. The awards are free to enter and have first place cash prizes of up to €1,000, plus mentoring and business support worth €1,000. There are also second and third prizes in each county.

Farmers in receipt of the Single Farm Payment are invited to submit a proposal for a new business idea or for a business that is no more than one year in existence. Supports can be put in place to aid new businesses to extend their business idea. Applicants must live in Westmeath or Offaly and be available to discuss the idea with a panel of adjudicators.

A number of local businesses have kindly sponsored the prizes in the competition.

The closing date for applications is Friday December 16.
