125,000 thank yous from Peter Mark for making wishes come true

Sunday blow-drys and fancy dress days at Peter Mark Harbour Place Shopping Centre, Mullingar and Golden Island Shopping Centre, Athlone raise funds for Make-A-Wish Foundation

2011 has been quite a year for Peter Mark as they celebrated their 50th anniversary and embarked on a number of exciting projects to say a big thank you to both loyal customers and the community as a whole.

With the support of over 1,600 staff across their 73 salons in Ireland and the generosity of their customers, Peter Mark is delighted to announce that they have managed to raise a staggering €116,881 in the Republic of Ireland and £7,127 in Northern Ireland for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Peter Mark staff from Harbour Place Shopping Centre in Mullingar and Golden Island Shopping Centre in Athlone joined their colleagues around the country and teamed up with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to Support 50 Wishes during the last two weeks of September. From bargain blow-dry Sundays to fancy dress parties, initiatives to raise much needed funds for this worthy cause drew massive support from generous staff and clients alike. The Make-A-Wish Foundation has been granting wishes to children between the ages of three and 18 with life-threatening medical conditions since 1992.

In response to the announcement, Susan O’Dwyer, chief executive of the Make-A-Wish Ireland said, “We’re so thrilled to partner with Peter Mark in this activity. With the support of so many of their staff and clients, they have managed to raise an incredible amount which will go a long way to making a difference to families all over Ireland.”

Barry Dempsey, managing director, Peter Mark said, “This is a time of great celebration for us all at Peter Mark. Reaching our 50th milestone anniversary is of huge significance to our founders Peter and Mark Keaveney and to everyone at Peter Mark. What better way to acknowledge the event than by having this opportunity to give back to the communities that have supported us so brilliantly over the years.”

Barry continued, “The incredible generosity in both time and financial terms of our staff and clients who supported the initiative with such enthusiasm is amazing and we would like to say 125,000 massive thank yous to everyone who made such an important contribution.”
