Get ‘fresh’ for Midlands Simon

Midlands Simon Community (MSC ) is cooking up a storm with its latest fundraising idea. The Fresh Cook Book will showcase a wonderful selection of the finest recipes, which have been sponsored and provided by dining establishments across the region - incorporating the counties of Westmeath, Longford, Offaly, Laois, and South Roscommon.

The publication, which is being generously sponsored by the participating eateries, and by Ireland’s Lakelands and Inland Waterways/ Fáilte Ireland, is being collated by the Westmeath Friends of Simon voluntary fundraising group. The Fresh Cook Book will profile the extensive high-quality dining options available across the region, while also providing its readers with a selection of recipes from their favourite haunts.

Midlands Simon Community works across the region to help people to move out of homelessness. This is done through the provision of a range of services and supports, including providing emergency accommodation, supporting people to source a home, assisting people to move into and maintain their own home. The Midlands Simon Community also helps people to overcome many of the issues faced by those who are homeless such as health and welfare needs, poverty, loneliness, and isolation, and has supported over 900 people since its establishment in the region.

This exciting publication marks a continuation of the vital fundraising partnership between Midlands Simon Community and the wider region.

Speaking about the publication, Mary Doyle, chairperson of Westmeath Friends of Simon said, “We are so proud of the calibre of the cafés, restaurants, and hotels participating in and supporting this publication, and ultimately Midlands Simon Community. We are also extremely grateful for Fáilte Ireland’s sponsorship of this project. This financial support means that the entire price of the book will go directly to Midlands Simon Community to provide a range of vital services to those who are at risk of, or who are experiencing homelessness across the counties of Laois, Longford, Offaly, Westmeath, and the wider region.”

Midlands Simon Community are in the process of planning a formal book launch pre-Christmas, and have already secured a number of retail outlets for the books (and are continuing to explore possibilities ) across the region.
