Stats are good for Westmeath graduates

In figures released this week (October 14 ) it was revealed that three in four Westmeath career coaching graduates land a job or start their own business “within weeks of graduation”, said Miriam Magner-Flynn of Career Decisions Ireland, at the recent graduation of Ireland’s first Diploma in Career Coaching.

With the Union of Students in Ireland (USI ) recently claiming over 90,000 Irish graduates are currently unemployed or considering emigration, Ireland’s first career coaching graduates are bucking the trend.

Of the graduates conferred with a Diploma in Career Coaching (NFQ Level 7 ) in DIT this week, 75 per cent have secured new employment. Of these, 30 per cent have moved into new jobs with 45 per cent having started their own career coaching businesses.

Career coaches help individuals market themselves to secure new employment and promotion.

Viewed as a recession-friendly business, it is currently one of the fastest growing industries in the world, and the sector is worth $2.4 million in the US alone and is growing by 18 per cent year on year.

“The Diploma in Career Coaching has been an outstanding success with over 75 per cent of the 2010 graduates having progressed into employment" said Miriam Magner-Flynn, managing director, Career Decisions Ireland and President of Institute of Career Coaching Ireland (ICCI ).

The Diploma in Career Coaching (NFQ Level 7 ) awarded by DIT, is Ireland’s first professionally accredited, internationally recognised qualification in Career Coaching. The diploma is delivered part time over a seven month period. Enrolment is taking place now for the 2011 course which starts in November 2011 at centres in Dublin and Limerick.
