Burgess Department Store in Athlone and Midlands Simon have launched a wonderful new partnership designed to reward people for showing their support for those affected by homelessness in our community.
By simply ‘dropping’ a bag of clothes into the Simon Shop in Athlone people will receive a €5 voucher to spend on clothing at Burgess of Athlone. The Simon Shop will benefit from increased donations of clothes and people will be rewarded for their support by receiving the voucher and being able to update their wardrobe at Burgess!
Speaking at the launch of the campaign, Rosie Boles of Burgess said “Burgess is proud to support Midlands Simon, we admire their holistic approach to an individual’s homelessness, they look at the immediate issues, the causes, and give long-term support to the individual, teaching them coping skills to get their lives back on track.”
CEO of Midlands Simon, Tony O’Riordan, said: “Working in partnership with others is a very important part of what we do, and is a way of achieving much more. Midlands Simon is absolutely delighted to be working with Burgess on this project. Burgess has consistently shown commitment to supporting the local community and we would like to say a huge thank you to Rosie Boles and all at Burgess for their wonderful support.
“The Simon Shop is a very important source of income for Midlands Simon and this initiative will make a significant difference in very challenging times.”
The aim of the Midlands Simon Community is to enable people to move out of homelessness by providing a wide range of services and supports. Since 2005 Midlands Simon has now supported over 900 people, including over 170 children.
