Donegan’s Londis, Main Steet, Kilbeggan was a worthy winner of a Gold Award at the Londis Retailing Excellence Awards 2011. Donegan’s Londis received this award for maintaining high standards and developing a positive consumer experience in their store. Monksland Service Station, Althone were also recognised for superior in store service with a Silver Retailing Excellence Award.
This year’s awards were announced at the group’s annual conference and retailing excellence awards. These prestigious awards, hosted by Irish broadcaster and journalist Marty Whelan, acknowledge Londis stores that promote best practice standards across their business. The awards support Londis’ aim to maintain and develop the best consumer experience in every Londis store. Sixty-eight awards were given out on the night, the most coveted award being Store of the Year. Other categories included gold, silver, and bronze awards for overall store excellence. There were nine awards for specific categories ranging from best off licence to best hot food and deli awards.
During the conference an inspiring line-up of speakers shared their economic and industry knowledge with Londis retailers. Leading Irish broadcaster, former politician and entrepreneur Ivan Yates was master of ceremonies introducing speakers Alan Dukes, chief economist and politician; Tara Buckley, director general RGDATA; and Enda McNulty, managing director of Motiv8 and ex-Armagh footballer.
One of the highlights of the day was the presentation of Apple iPADS to Londis retailers. The move will dramatically transform the operation and management of Londis shops across the country, putting the entire store operation at the retailer’s fingertips, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

Each year the bar is raised as more and more stores excel in areas of customer service and best practice.”
