Music, comedy, and plenty for the family at The Green Village

Just a few miles off the M6 motorway, The Green Village Music and Arts Festival is set in the remarkable parkland of Mount Druid in the village of Castletown Geoghegan, Co Westmeath.

The Green Village Festival, which takes place on Saturday September 24, will celebrate the best of Irish community with a one day programme of contemporary and traditional music, old time dance, poetry and literature, as well as children’s events.

The organisers believe that during the harvest period in September is an ideal time to demonstrate traditional crafts and rural life. In addition they will be showcasing the best in local food, music, arts, culture, and heritage all while spreading eco awareness among 200,000 native broadleaf trees.

The Green Village Festival will bring together local communities in a spirit of co-operation to work towards social and economic regeneration of the area and enable groups to show their work to the wider population.

Over 40 different bands will perform on six different stages, featuring such well known acts as The Stunning, Ryan Sheridan, Bipolar Empire, economist David McWilliams, comedy from The Hardy Bucks, a ceile with The Castletown Geoghegan Comhaltas Group, theatre with Mary McEvoy, The Village Hall Stage bringing you the best in Country, cajun, and bluegrass, The Stables Rock Stage, a Youth Café stage, Children’s play area, an Eco area featuring demonstrations and workshops on sustainable living, a craft fair and food village with the best of local produce and even a matchmaking tent!

Ticket prices: €35 single adult, €25 student, €20 OAP, and €89 for a family ticket including two adults and two teens.

Children under 12 go free, aand there is also no charge for camping or campervans. Gates open at noon on Saturday September 24.
