Local band The Disconnected Bliss have made it into the regional finals in the Guinness Arthur’s Day - Play on The Day competition. The Athlone-based trio have been voted as one of the top 16 bands in the country and remain in the race to play the main stage on Arthur’s Day. Their regional final will be held in Dolans of Limerick this Wednesday September 7.
The Disconnected Bliss which consists of Bobby Hewitt, Ian Munt, and Eddie Carroll have been steadily progressing over the year, and are currently in the middle of recording an album.
“We are also working on building the band’s profile and getting gigs, so we decided to send in one of our songs just to see how it would stand up and here we are in the last 16 and into the regional finals, it’s great!” said drummer Eddie Carroll.
The competition, which is supported by Hot Press and RTÉ 2fm, has been a huge success to date. RTÉ 2fm DJ and judge Jenny Huston described the calibre of the bands in the regional finals as “amazing”.
“The competition is going to be really tough which makes it all the more exciting for RTÉ 2fm, to be broadcasting from all of the regional finals. We’re really looking forward to it,” she said.
