Miss Ireland has always been the most coveted crown in Ireland and former Miss Irelands have enjoyed hugely successful careers in modelling, entertainment, TV presenting, acting, and business. Former Miss Irelands such as Rosanna Davison, Amanda Brunker, and Andrea Roche made it to the top finalists in Miss World during their respective reigns and Ireland has always been a force to be reckoned with on the world stage.
Hoping to follow in their footsteps is newly crowned Miss Karma Westmeath, Laura Callinan who hails from Kiltoom here in Athlone. Laura, a keen student, was awarded the title after sailing through the selection process at Karma nightclub. A number of ladies were chosen over the month of July with the top five required to attend an interview with Mandy Maher of Catwalk Modelling Agency and Karma manager Louise Cunningham.
The final of Miss Ireland 2011 will take place in Dublin on August 13 where Laura will compete with ladies from all over the country for the coveted title of Miss Ireland.
