A public information evening in relation to site investigation works as part of the Athlone water mains rehabilitation, is to be held on Monday.
The site investigation works are a preliminary step before stage 3 of the Water Mains Rehabilitation Works get underway.
Members of the public or business owners who wish to know the extent of the site investigation works and how it will affect them are invited to the information evening, where staff from Westmeath County Council and consulting engineers Mouchel/Tobin, will be present to provide information on the project background, scope, and programme of works.
The site investigation will involve the excavation of 22 trial pits and 70 slit trenches at various locations in Athlone over an estimated eight-week period. The slit trenches allow the council to map all the services in a particular area such as sewers, water mains, telecom, and other services; while the trial pits reveal what kind of ground the contractor will be digging in.
A map of the locations and schedule of streets affected is available on the council’s website at www.westmeathcoco.ie
The public information evening on the site investigation works takes place this Monday August 8 in the Civic Centre, Athlone from 4-8pm.
