Internet sensation Crystal Swing, along with local favourites TR Dallas and Mick Flavin, will be just a few of the acts generously giving of their time in a benefit concert at the Glasson Golf and Country Club on Tuesday August 30, in aid of the Irish Cancer Society.
The benefit gig has been organised byTrish Seery - whose family was touched by the disease recently.
Over the last 12 months she has raised funds for the ICS and the South Westmeath Hospice by going on the Inca trail in the Andes; with a table quiz and charity swim in Athlone - which raised over €4,000; and by taking on the Great Wall of China trek in October.
“Sometimes you get such a dose of the harsh reality of life that you can do one of two things - stick your head in the sand and ignore it or try and do something to make a difference. We decided to go with the latter,” she said.
“Thirty per cent of people living in Ireland now will develop cancer at some point in their lives. Think about the 10 people you are closest to and work out the odds.”
Other acts appearing on the night will include Jimmy Buckley, The Lols, Carmel Sheerin and the Ravens, Derek Ryan, and Adams Locker. All acts have agreed to appear free of charge. Tickets are €10 each, and will be available on the door on the night of August 30, or by contacting (086 ) 3132234.
