All roads lead to Croke Park this Saturday if you are a primrose and blue supporter as both the minor and senior footballers are in action in GAA headquarters. The hugely talented minor side take on Armagh in the All-Ireland quarter-final at 2pm. Having won the Connacht title in decisive fashion against Galway, confidence is high that they can go at least a step or two further.
Armagh lost the Ulster decider to Cavan but are sure to be a tough nut to crack. If Roscommon can repeat the work-rate and hunger shown in the provincial final then I expect they will be looking forward to an All-Ireland semi-final come Saturday evening.
At 4pm Fergal O Donnell’s seniors face Tyrone in a fourth round qualifier. Having failed to put back to back Connacht titles together, O’Donnell’s men will need to show considerable improvement if they are to cause a shock this weekend.
Mickey Harte’s men are gradually finding form after wins over Longford and Armagh and will be delighted to be back in GAA HQ. Roscommon will have no pressure on them going into the game and just as a number of warm favourites were turned over in Ballybrit during the week there is always the chance it will happen here too. My money however will be on Tyrone to cover the handicap.
