The Mullingar Chamber of Commerce was saddened to hear of the death of Ted O’Leary, father of local business man and Ryanair boss Michael. Ted moved to Mullingar from County Cork in the late 60s and set up Tailteann Textiles on the Longford Road which employed a large number of Mullingar people for many years.
Patrick Whelan, president of the Mullingar Chamber spoke about Mr O’Leary’s passing, “Ted O’Leary was a great businessman and a popular man around Mullingar as evidenced by the large number of people who attended his funeral at the weekend. He was a wonderful asset to the economy of Mullingar in the late sixties and seventies when Tailteann Textiles was one of the biggest private sector employers in the town.”
The chamber would like to extend their deepest sympathy to the late Mr O’Leary’s family, his wife Ger, children Ashley, Michael, Eddy, Caragh, Valerie, and Ged, grandchildren, sisters, and his extended family.
