New fully organic weedkiller to be launched tomorrow by Sean Gallagher

The Irish Organic Weedkiller official opening celebrations begin 3.30pm tomorrow in Claregalway Corporate Park where Galway entrepreneur Oisín Concannon has established the award winning Irish Organic Weedkiller product range.

Performing the official opening will be well-known business personality and presidential candidate Seán Gallagher. Special guests include Gardening TV presenter Eugene Higgins of RTE’s Afternoon Show. The event will be attended by members of the business community, representatives of supporting organisations Enterprise Ireland, Galway City and County Enterprise Board, as well as members of the public.

News of homegrown indigenous innovation and entrepreneurship is a sign of positivity in the current economic climate and the establishment of this business in County Galway will lead to new jobs as well as spin off employment contributing to the local economy. Irish Organic Weedkiller Ltd has developed and launched Ireland’s first 100 per cent natural weedkiller. In early 2009 father and business man Oisín Concannon, conscious of the dangers of chemicals to children and pets, was looking for a non-toxic weedkiller in his local hardware stores. He discovered that none existed in the Irish market and set about developing a natural, Irish made, alternative to chemical weedkillers.

Following months of research, development, and vigorous product testing in OECD accredited laboratories in Europe, Irish Organic Weedkiller was born. Irish Organic Weedkiller is now the only Irish company licensed to manufacture and market a 100 per cent natural weedkiller in Ireland and holds licences to develop 13 natural weed killer products.

Irish Organic Weedkiller contains only natural ingredients, starts to work within three hours, and is 100 per cent bio-degradable. Extremely fast acting, the product returns the PH of the soil to normal after two days for quick replanting. A safe and environmentally friendly alternative to non-green weedkillers, this new product leaves no harmful chemicals behind. As an added benefit, the dying root of the weed acts as a wholly natural compost, enriching and nourishing the soil.

Oisín Concannon received the accolade of Galway Young Entrpreneur of the Year Award in November 2010 from Junior Chamber International Galway. His product was also shortlisted for the Best New Green Product Award at The Irish Green Awards 2010. The awards are designed to commend eco-friendly products proven to be as effective as non-green traditional products.
