Beezneez Theatre return with Don’t Dress for Dinner

Beezneez Theatre Company has earned a huge reputation for production of summer comedy and they have scored a bull’s eye with this summer’s production of Don’t Dress for Dinner, which comes to Roscommon Arts Centre on Tuesday and Wednesday June 28 and 29.

Beezneez artistic director John McDwyer describes it as “probably the best written farce I have ever worked on”, and when you consider past productions have included Run for Your Wife, Out of Order, and Move Over, Mrs Markham, this statement seems to point to an unmissable show.

Don’t Dress for Dinner ran for seven years in London’s West End and has since become one of the most produced plays in the world. Beezneez, renowned for their production values, were well aware that this play would require the attention of their best comedy actors and they have assembled an all-star cast for the show. Although all the cast have worked with Beezneez before, this is the first time for many of them to work together and this has made the project exciting and original for all concerned.

John McDwyer, who directs the production, says Don’t Dress for Dinner is unusual in the sense that it is a farce without banging doors and bedroom scenes but rather relies on fantastic situations being introduced through snappy dialogue and mistaken identity. Comedy of this nature requires exquisite timing and having such an experienced cast has made rehearsal tremendous fun as everyone is prepared to pitch in their own ideas to make the comedy work.

Don’t Dress for Dinner has been a worldwide hit, and when Beezneez put their mark on the play, it is sure to provide a theatrical evening of uncontrolled laughter and joy. As part of a 14-venue national tour, Beezneez visit Roscommon Arts Centre for two nights, Tuesday and Wednesday June 28 and 29. The box office number is (090 ) 6625824. Don’t miss it!
