If you are considering buying a new car this year remember that the Government Scrappage Scheme ends in just one week on June 30.
Under the scheme, the Government is giving a discount of €1,250. However, the actual discount is likely to be a far greater than this with many manufacturers and dealers offering several thousand euro off the asking price.
Already this year, over 9,500 motorists have availed of the scheme and it’s expected that by the end of the month, when the scheme comes to an end, that the number of cars bought under scrappage will exceed the predicted 10,000.
It is important to note that while a customer has until the last day of the month to register their new car under the Government Car Scrappage Scheme, there is some paperwork involved in scrapping the old car. If you qualify and are in the market, you should also move sooner rather than later so that your preferred option is available.
