Co Westmeath Tourism Ltd has been busy marketing Westmeath to our nearest largest market – Dublin.
Members of Co Westmeath Tourism Ltd recently produced a ‘special offers’ flyer aimed specifically at the Dublin market, and highlighting the central location of Westmeath as one of the county’s main advantages.
“Access into the county on the M4 and M6 motorway is very easy and it is essential to encourage visitors to stop and enjoy what Westmeath has to offer. Hotels and guesthouses have made very attractive accommodation packages offering good value and many attractions have a ‘kids go free’ or ‘two for the price of one’ offer,” says Rhona Rogers, tourism development officer.
“With many families preparing to have a ‘staycation’ this year or looking for a day out within easy travelling distance, Westmeath has a lot to offer. A listing of events in Westmeath over the summer months and into autumn is included to highlight the great variety of events and family activities that will take place around the county.”
Some 25,000 copies of the Westmeath Special Offers flyer inserts were printed and distributed with four titles (Clondalkin, Blanchardstown, Lucan, and Castleknock ) of the Gazette group of newspapers around the M50 prior to the June bank holiday weekend.
A call to action is included on the front cover encouraging readers to avail of their free copy of ‘Your Westmeath Adventure Guide’.
The flyer also includes two competitions for family holidays in the Lakelands, sponsored by the Hodson Bay Hotel and Bloomfield House Hotel and a number of local attraction and activity providers.
This initiative was part-funded by trade subscriptions and supported by Westmeath Community Development under the Rural Development (LEADER ) Programme 2007 – 2013.
