Over 1,000 local parents opt for positive parenting

Kids don’t come with a manual - when parenting how do you know what’s best?

More than 1,000 parents of children aged seven years and under in Westmeath and Longford are currently opting to tackle that question by taking part in the Triple P Parenting Program, which has been available free of charge for the last nine months.

The Australian founder of the program, Professor Matt Sanders, is visiting Ireland this June, and delivered a free seminar ‘Parenting in difficult times’ in the Radisson Blu Hotel, Athlone yesterday evening Thursday June 9.

The Triple P (Positive Parenting Program ) is a set of evidence-based parenting programmes which reduces child behavioural and emotional problems or reduces the possibility of them happening, by giving parents proven tools and skills to build stronger families. Parents also learn tips to promote a child’s confidence and independence and to deal with life’s ups and downs.

For more details about Triple P courses, tips and podcasts for common parenting concerns visit www.triplep-staypositive.net or phone the Longford/Westmeath Parenting Partnership on (090 ) 6434070. Courses are free to parents living in Longford/Westmeath with children aged seven years and younger.
