Heats for the 2011 waltzing competition in aid of the Athlone Agri Show are being held across the Midlands.
Every year the show committee are amazed at the high level of interest from dancers across the Midlands and beyond.
The grand final of the waltzing competition will take place in the Athlone GAA centre on June 18. The final will see some 60 competitors with the winners receiving a weekend for two in McWilliam’s Hotel, Clairemorris, Co Mayo. There will also be prizes for the four runners-up.
The various heats remaining before the finals include: Egan’s Mount Temple, May 28; The Well Moate, June 2; The Gap House, Moate, June 4; McCauley’s Pub, Moyvore, June 5; Tom’s Tavern, Ferbane, June 5; Dr Cuppaiges, Moate June 6; The Village Inn, Drumlish, June 11; and Maghera Pub, Maghera, June 12.
