Ceol na Mona is a brand new festival taking place in Ballyforan, Co Roscommon over the June Bank Holiday weekend from Friday June 3 to Sunday June 5. It’s a celebration of live music, local heritage, and family fun for three days.
There promises to be something for everyone over the weekend with guided tours, traditional music sessions, children’s athletics, 5km fun run, fishing competition, kids disco with fancy dress, BBQs, and live music in the festival marquee in St Aidan’s GAA Pitch, all in the picturesque village of Ballyforan, Co Roscommon.
The festival has been set up to celebrate the natural beauty and community that Ballyforan has to offer to the whole of Roscommon and its surrounding towns and counties. The village is the midpoint between Roscommon, Athlone, Mountbellew. and Ballinasloe and the festival aims to bring people from these areas to Ballyforan and celebrate music and family fun over the June Bank Holiday.
This is the first year of the festival and the aim of the committee is to create a local festival that has value for all who attend, from the planned activities throughout the daytime that showcase the surrounds of Ballyforan to the hospitality that will be shown by the people and businesses of the village. In addition the selection of music acts playing in the marquee over the weekend cover all tastes from rock, pop, and country.
Friday June 3 sees the hugely popular Big Generator headlining the festival marquee, on Saturday June 4, four-piece band Whitewater, who have had Irish chart success, come to Ballyforan, and on Sunday June 5 the singing sensation Patrick Feeney will entertain all.
Admission to the live music in the marquee is only €10 each night payable on the night with a fully licensed bar and a great night’s entertainment is sure to be had!
