Westmeath hurling - Is féidir linn

While the visits of Lizzie and Barack created a bit of a stir and generated a feel good factor across the country over the past week, all concerned with Westmeath hurling had more important reasons for walking taller in recent days.

Firstly our minors travelled into the lion’s den in O’Connor Park Tullamore and booked their place in a Leinster semi-final. Then less than 24 hours later our much maligned seniors made little of their underdogs tag and cast aside the challenge of Carlow. In doing so they set up an intriguing clash with Galway in Cusack Park on Saturday June 4. Two outstanding wins which give hope that the good work being done in hurling circles within the county can, and will, reap dividends.
