New car registrations up 12 per cent

New car registrations are up 12 per cent for the first four months of the year, figures released by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI ) confirm.

So far this year, 56,676 new cars have been sold, compared to 50,591 for the same period last year, an increase of 12 per cent.

SIMI figures show that 8,709 new cars were sold in April, an increase of 3 per cent on the same month last year.

LCV registrations up almost 40 per cent

Light Commercial Vehicle/Van registrations were up almost 40 per cent in April.

Figure released this week show that 1,125 Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs ) were registered in April, an increase of 39 per cent on the same month last year.

Year to date LCV registrations stood at 6,093 (at the end of April ), an increase of 5 per cent over the first four months of last year (5,817 units ).

Renault LCV range tops sales charts

Renault, Europe’s best selling van range, hit the number one best selling spot here in April with 14.9 per cent of the overall market.

HGV registrations up 4 per cent year to date

New Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV ) registrations soared by more than 60 per cent in April.

Figures released by SIMI this week show that 125 HGVs were registered in April, an increase of 62 per cent on April last year. To date 475 HGVs have been registered, a 4 per cent increase on last year.
