Business economist Marc Coleman to launch Roscommon Innovation initiative

As part of the upcoming Enterprise and Innovation Week in County Roscommon, renowned business and economics writer, Marc Coleman, will launch an important new initiative called Roscommon Innovation House at an event in the Athlone Springs Hotel in Monksland on Thursday May 26.

Marc Coleman is one of Ireland’s foremost economists. A former economics editor of The Irish Times, he is currently economics and politics columnist with the Sunday Independent and also hosts the popular current affairs show Coleman at Large on Newstalk Radio. Marc is author of two bestselling books on the Irish economy. His second book, Back from the Brink, is a confidence inspiring book, in which he examines the causes that have brought us to the brink and the radical changes needed to pull us back from it. His motivational qualities, expertise, and common sense approach to business, economics, and current affairs always instil confidence.

Hosted by Roscommon Integrated Development Company, the aim of the Roscommon Innovation House Initiative is to provide the best possible innovation advice and support for new and existing entrepreneurs through the engagement of appropriate innovation experts. This will be done in a seamless one-stop-shop format across all participating agencies. This event will include expert advisory sessions, by appointment, with innovation experts who will be present on the day.

Sean Gallagher to chair Innovation Conference in Roscommon

Meanwhile, on Monday May 23 renowned Dragon’s Den panellist and presidential hopeful, Sean Gallagher, will chair an Innovation Conference in Roscommon town hosted by Roscommon County Enterprise Board and will give a presentation on how to make a successful pitch for funding.

Sean is a passionate campaigner for entrepreneurs and small business owners. He believes that they will play a crucial role in the revival of Ireland’s economy and the creation of much needed employment. Other speakers at the conference, taking place on May 23 at the New Government Buildings, Golf Links Road, Roscommon, include renowned entrepreneur John Concannon from JFC Manufacturing in Tuam, David O’Sullivan from the Ideas School at NUI Galway, and Liam Birkett, a respected speaker on IP, copyright, and trademarks as a form of protection and competitive advantage for enterprises.

Throughout the week, general information and advisory sessions will be provided at various locations throughout the county, including Roscommon town, Monksland, Boyle, and Ballaghaderreen. Specialist advisory sessions will be by appointment only, so participants should contact the relevant organisations to book same.
