This week the Athlone Agri Show launched their waltzing competition which will take place from now to June 18.
Various heats of the competition will be held in pubs throughout the Midlands from Ferbane to Keenagh and from Moate to Athlone and all across Mullingar.
This competition has become synonymous with Athlone Agri Show - last year the final was a huge success and attracted crowds from all over the Midlands and beyond.
The various heats will take place this year at the following venues on the dates outlined: Fox’s, Loughnavalley, May 14; The Well, Moate, May 19; Kiernan’s, Ballymahon, May 21; Cooney’s Hotel, Ballymahon, May 22; Egan’s, Mount Temple May 28; The Well, Moate, June 2; The Gap House, Moate, June 4; McCauley’s Pub, Moyvore June 5; Tom’s Tavern, Ferbane, June 5; Dr Cuppaiges, Moate, June 6; and Maghera Pub, June 11.
If you are interested in taking part or simply want to watch the best dancers in the Midlands, drop into the various venues for a great night out.
The grand final will take place in the GAA centre Athlone on June 18. First prize for the winners is a weekend away for two in McWilliam’s Hotel, Claremorris. Second and third prize are both a meal out for two people.
