‘Open wide’ for dentistry open night in Athlone

Free consultations at Radisson Blu

Losing a tooth in an accident, from a sporting knock, or from decay can change the shape of your face. Eating and chewing foods is awkward and, overall people’s confidence isn’t great. They smile less, embarrassed by the gap in their teeth!

All of these issues affect people who are missing teeth, according to Dr Edmond O’Flaherty, specialist in dental implants at the leading Seapoint Clinic in Blackrock, County Dublin.

Dr O’Flaherty and colleague Dr Tom Linehan are speaking at a free seminar on dental implants at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Athlone on Friday May 13 between 5pm and 9pm. Those interested in a free consultation can contact Seapoint Clinic at (01 ) 2842570.

There will be a brief slide presentation, repeated regularly, questions, and an immediate free private consultation for those who book beforehand. Those without a booking can get a voucher for a free consultation at the Dublin clinic on a later date.

Costing from €1,895, a dental implant holds a replacement tooth that perfectly replicates a natural one. With care, implants can last a lifetime. They look and feel realistic and, importantly, preserve the jawbone, so the face keeps its normal shape. Better nutrition and overall health also results, as people can chew and absorb food normally, without worrying about dentures.

The cost of implants is tax-deductible, and can be covered by private healthcare, particularly micro-implants which fix dentures in place. Implants are totally secure and do away with worries about movement in dentures, misplacing them, and messy pastes and glues.

“There are minimally-invasive implants for people of all ages, which are quick and easy to place, and transform the patient’s outlook, and their overall health,” says Dr O’Flaherty.
