Sean Gallagher to speak at small businesses seminar

Dragon’s Den star Sean Gallagher has been unveiled as the key speaker at a local event hosted by Developing Enterprises Skillnet. The event takes place in the Clayton Hotel from 6.30pm to 8.30pm on Monday May 10 and focuses on the challenges facing small businesses in today’s environment.

It will include presentations and panel discussions on challenges facing SMEs, family run businesses, small enterprises, and entrepreneurs, and promote the development of the new Skillnet training network.

Developing Enterprises Skillnet has identified many gaps in training for such businesses throughout the west of Ireland. The company has an association with WIN (West of Ireland Networking ) which provides training, networking and mentoring for unemployed professionals, entrepreneurs and small enterprises. To date there has been a lack of support, training, and services for the ‘unexpected unemployed’ or the ‘new unemployed’ in Ireland and WIN has successfully filled this gap.

In addition to Sean Gallagher, speakers will include: Seamus Bree, director of the Western Region, Enterprise Ireland; Breda Fox, CEO of Galway County and Enterprise Board; Caroline McDonagh, CEO of WIN; and Gert O'Rourke of Gert O'Rourke Training and Development.

Sean Gallagher is a speaker and entrepreneur who is best known as an investor on RTE’s Dragon’s Den. He is founder and former CEO of Smarthomes, Ireland's largest home technology company, and was a finalist in the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2006. As an entrepreneur Gallagher understands the challenges of setting up and growing a successful business in Ireland. He is also a board member of InterTradeIreland, the North-South Trade body, FÁS the National Training and Employment agency as well as the Drogheda Port Company.

Sean Gallagher is a passionate supporter and campaigner for entrepreneurs and small business owners. He believes that they will play a crucial role in the revival of Ireland's economy and the creation of much needed employment. He currently spends much of his time giving motivational talks to aspiring or early stage entrepreneurs. He has spoken to hundreds of groups and is also a regular contributor in the media and at seminars and conferences on personal success, business, and entrepreneurship.
