Strong line-up for Chamber breakfast briefing

The Midlands Gateway Chamber is set to host the second in a series of breakfast briefings in association with the Mullingar Chamber of Commerce. The briefing takes place on 7 November in the Annebrook House Hotel from 7.45am. The speakers include Gabriel D’Arcy and Fred Barry.

Gabriel D’Arcy was appointed managing director of Bord Na Móna in October 2007. Prior to this Mr D’Arcy worked for Kerry Group plc where he held the position of commercial director, Kerry Ingredients Europe. He originally joined the group in 1989 and has held senior positions in Kerry’s dairy, ingredients, and bakery divisions.

Mr D’Arcy also spent twelve years as an army officer in the Defence Forces, retiring as a Captain. During his service, he had two tours of duty with United Nations forces in Lebanon. 

The second speaker, Fred Barry, is CEO of the National Roads Authority. Mr Barry’s career began as chartered engineer after qualifying from UCD. He qualified from the Kings Inns as a barrister in the mid 1980s and subsequently held the position of managing director of Jacobs in the UK and Ireland. After gaining worldwide experience in major engineering projects, Mr Barry was appointed CEO to the National Roads Authority in 2005. 

He is also director of the National Development Finance Agency and an occasional lecturer at the Institute of Project Management.
