Want to be a film critic? Well if you are aged between 10 and18 here’s your chance in the forthcoming Coca-Cola Cinemagic International Film and Television Festival for Young People, Dublin, 2011.
Do you enjoy watching films? Would you like to share your views on what you see on the screen with others? Ever wanted to be a film critic? Well this may be the opportunity for you.
This May, the Dublin Coca-Cola Cinemagic International Film and Television Festival for Young People is offering a fantastic opportunity for young people to join the cross border Cinemagic Jury and review a series of short films under the guidance of the Cinemagic team and a mentor from Film Ireland magazine who will explain the basics of film critiquing. Jury members will also have the chance to write their own reviews and announce the winning films at the closing night of the festival on May 18 in Cineworld Cinemas, Dublin.
Cinemagic is currently selecting young people for its jury panels - the 10-14 year-old jury will meet on Saturday May 14 and the 15-18 year-old jury will meet on Sunday May 15 from 10.30am-4pm in Cineworld Cinemas, Parnell Street, Dublin. The Cinemagic Jury members will spend a fun filled day with the Cinemagic Festival team, watching and reviewing short films from around the world.
The jury panel will get the chance to discuss their favourite films and love of movies, as well as making new friends and playing an important role in the Cinemagic Film Festival.
If you would like to apply to be part of the jury then simply write or email an imaginative letter (300 word max ) telling Cinemagic why you would like to be a member of the jury. Email [email protected] or contact Claire Baxter, Cinemagic, 49 Botanic Avenue, Belfast, BT7 1JL by 19 April.
Applicants must have permission from their parents/guardian to be a member of the jury and arrange their own transport to and from the cinema in Dublin.
The fun-filled Coca-Cola Cinemagic International Film and Television Festival programme (May 11-18 ) promises an eclectic range of films, masterclasses with film and television industry guests, and workshops for schools and 16-25 year-olds, all of which aim to entertain, motivate and create opportunities for young people aged from four to 25.
