Athlone Chamber is coordinating an Athlone Sustainable Energy Day on Friday April 15 in Golden Island Shopping Centre. The awareness raising information day is being organised as part of the wider European Sustainable Energy Week 2011.
The event will play host to a wide range of small local businesses working in the area of sustainable energy. Businesses promoting energy efficient products will provide information on their products at stands in the Golden Island Shopping Centre. The aim of the event is to provide as much information as possible in a one-stop shop at people’s convenience on all the various options there are for people regarding their energy sources.
“The chamber believe that there are significant energy savings to be made for businesses and homes,” said John McGrath, chairman of the policy committee. “And we hope this Sustainable Energy Day will provide people with the information they require all in one location. People need impartial advice about all the new sources of energy if they are to make the investment. We encourage all those interested in the subject,” outlined Mr McGrath, “to come along to visit the information stands and ask the relevant questions.”
“Athlone we know is interested in alternative energy, said Mr McGrath, “this event was a great success last year. We received very positive feedback from all those that attended last year saying that the information they obtained was invaluable.
“Following our very hard winter,” stressed Mr McGrath, “we all know what it takes to keep our homes warmer and with the very expensive fuel costs and the increasing prices in oil, energy is an expensive commodity. We all want to keep our fuel costs to a minimum and there are many solutions to this problem. The Sustainable Energy Day on April 15 is the ideal place to find out all the relevant information.
