Local songwriter riding high in charts

The new single from local singer-songwriter Colin Fahy, ‘Crossroads’, has reached number 15 in the Irish songwriters chart.

The track was recorded with Paul Gurney in Real World Recording Studios in Longford, and the track also features Danny Byrt from Stockswing on drums.

A previous winner of the Clonmel National Songwriting Contest, Colin has been focussing heavily on songwriting in the past year. He recently had the opportunity to co-write a new song with Charlie McGettigan, ‘Second Look’, and also recorded a track with two well-known Slovenian songwriters for Eurosong 2010.

Next month he will be co-writing with Derek Ryan, former member of D-side, who recently got signed to Sharpe Record Label. Derek is having a great run of success with his own new album A Mother’s Son.

While all this is going on, Colin is in the middle of rehearsals for the Athlone Musical Society’s production of Westside Story, which runs from March 5-12, where he will be playing the part of Chino. A follow-up single to ‘Crossroads’ is planned for April.

‘Crossroads’ is available to download on itunes. For updates see www.colinfahy.com or www.facebook.com/colin fahy.music.
