Wednesday was a very happy day for a mature couple from the Midlands, when they collected their cheque for €4,018,495 from Lotto HQ after they nabbed the top prize in last Saturday’s draw.
The lucky winners also won a €3 scratch card in the draw. The delighted couple, who wish their win to remain private, purchased their €6 quick pick ticket in Easons, Athlone Towncentre on February 3.
The lucky winners did not realise they were millionaires until 9.30pm on Sunday night, when they were reading the papers and remembered to check their ticket. Up until then the husband had been carrying the €4 million winning ticket around in his back pocket!
The couple, who have grown up children, have been playing Lotto games twice a week since the game began.
“We are absolutely delighted with the win after all these years of playing, we do however, intend to continue playing the Lotto every week,” said the husband.
The winners have plenty of plans in mind for their new fortune some of which include going on holidays this summer and helping out their children.
