Better known as Mr Nice, Howard Marks is a writer, creator, contributor, storyteller, comedian, Oxford graduate, philosopher, teacher, stoner, singer, actor, DJ, social commentator, revolutionary, and an all round nice guy. And he’ll be preforming his live show, An Audience with Mr Nice at The Loft in The Palace Bar, Athlone, on Saturday February 12 at 9.30pm.
A softly spoken man, he has engaged audiences from Kilkenny to Kathmandu with his fascinating lifestyle and great anecdotal tales that has seen him driven by adrenaline and fuelled by emotion for a right and just society.
Famous for his audacious cannabis trafficking and liberal opinions, Howard Marks has become somewhat of an icon in the world of literature and spoken word.
Following the worldwide success of his autobiography which has sold over one million copies worldwide (per capita Ireland has bought most ) Mr Nice has been made into a feature film and was premiered all over the world last year in theatres from Texas to Tokyo. The film is a tour de force rock n roll action packed blockbuster. Starring as the main man is Marks good friend and fellow Welsh actor Rhys Ifans.
After a sell-out Irish tour last November, Marks is once again bringing his lauded An Audience with Mr Nice to Ireland, to share his experiences face to face with the despondent population in the hope that they can gain solace and motivation in these troubled times.
Enjoy this woolly Welsh wizard of words who without doubt is one of the most liberal minds to tour these shores in recent years.
Tickets are €15 and are limited. They can be purchased from Music World and The Palace Bar, Athlone.
