CIPD announce upcoming events

The Midlands branch of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD ) is pleased to announce details of their upcoming event, the Annual Employment Law Update. This event is supported by Vhi Healthcare and will take place at the Hodson Bay Hotel, Athlone at 6pm on Wednesday January 26.

The speakers on the evening will be David McCarroll, solicitor, Ronan Daly Jermyn Solicitors; and Doreen Gerety, chairperson, CIPD Midlands Committee.

David McCarroll is a solicitor in Ronan Daly Jermyn Solicitors employment unit, operating from their Galway offices. He is involved in providing both employers and employees with advice on all aspects of the employment relationship and has acted for both sides in relation to a wide variety of employment law matters before the Rights Commissioner Service, the Employment Appeals Tribunal, the Labour Court, and the Equality Tribunal. In addition, he has appeared in the Circuit Court and High Court in relation to various employment related civil actions ranging from dismissal injunction actions to bullying cases. David also has extensive experience in the drafting of employment contracts, grievance and disciplinary procedures, and employee handbooks. David is a graduate of UCD and qualified as a solicitor in 2006. He trained and worked with a specialist employment law firm in Dublin for five years before joining RDJ in early 2008. David also holds a diploma in employment law from UCD.

The CIPD Midlands region provides a forum for HR and business leaders in both public and private enterprises to network and share information, skills, and best practice in the area of human resource management, employment law, employee and industrial relations. The CIPD Midlands region is an active member of the Midlands Gateway Chamber and works closely with AIT, FAS, Enterprise Ireland, IDA, and other midlands agencies to support regional initiatives and to promote people development and business performance.

The Annual Employment Law Update, which has always been a very popular event on the CIPD Midlands calendar, promises to be as topical, informative, and engaging as ever. This event is open to all, and will be of particular interest to business managers, HR professionals, and students.
