Experience jazz fusion at The Stables

Tonight, Friday December 3 The Stables, Mullingar will be hosting brand new Irish jazz fusion band Circumflex, with a host of other talent. Circumflex was started by John Owens and Charlie Bernath, the band’s guitar players, in 2009. Originally a guitar duo the band was formed in August of 2010 adding Mullingar’s own Tommy Moore on bass/vocals and from Maynooth, Hugh Denman on drums.

After three dates at the Brussels jazz festival in September the band have returned to Ireland to preview their new and very original sound. Complex harmonies tied in with intense sections of loud cacophony create an intense sound that the band have found difficult to describe in words. Free sections unwind into composed sections, loud post rock moments become soft and delicate jazz passages. The support on the night comes from the band’s bass player Tommy Moore playing a set of his original folks songs. He will be accompanied by one of Mullingar’s finest guitar players Paul Feery.
