Google makes final call for Westmeath doodles

Students in schools throughout Westmeath are being reminded to pick up their paint brushes and start doodling to be in with the chance to win Google’s national art and design competition.

Twenty-two Westmeath primary and secondary schools have already registered for this year’s Doodle 4 Google art competition but there is still time for your school to enter as the deadline for entries is December 10.

Students entering the competition are required to create a doodle on and around the Google logo based on the theme of “To me, happiness is…”. The winning doodle will be viewed by millions of internet users when it is placed on the Google Ireland homepage in March 2011. The four national finalists will receive a laptop for themselves and one for their teachers. The national winner’s doodle will appear on the Google homepage for 24 hours and their school will receive a ?10,000 technology grant.

The four most popular doodles, as voted by the people of Ireland will be presented to Google’s official doodlers based in Mountain View, California. The Google doodlers will then choose the national winner from these top four doodles.
