Raharney v Oulart-the-Ballagh (Cusack Park, Sunday 2.30pm )
Westmeath senior hurling champions Raharney have the opportunity to write their names into the history books this weekend by becoming the first ever Westmeath hurling side to reach the provincial decider. To do so they must overcome the significant threat of Wexford’s Oulart-the-Ballagh, who are many people’s favourites to win the All-Ireland club title.
Johnny Greville’s men caused something of an upset by beating Offaly’s Coolderry in the quarter final. The Deelsiders showed admirable fighting qualities and no little skill on that occasion. A repeat of that performance is a must if they are to again upset the odds. What a boost a win would give to hurling in the county. Home advantage is a big plus for the Westmeath champions and hopefully they will get the support they deserve.
