St Brigid’s march into Connacht Club Senior Football Final

St Brigid’s 1-13

Glencar Manorhamilton 3-05

Roscommon champions St Brigid’s had to withstand a strong challenge from Leitrim champions Glencar Manorhamilton in Pairc Sean McDiarmada on Sunday last. The Kiltoom men were the hottest of favourites at 1/12 to clinch a coveted place in the provincial decider. Yet the Leitrim men made a mockery of those odds by bagging three goals and giving The Saints one hell of a fright.

Ian Kilbride, Peter Domican, Karol Mannion, Frankie Dolan, Senan Kilbride, and David O’Connor were key performers for the green and reds on a day when their greater experience shone through.

Noel O’Brien will know that his men have plenty of room for improvement, particularly after conceding three goals in Carrick on Shannon. Their opponents in the Connacht final which is fixed for Tuam on Sunday week are Galway champions Killererin. The Galway men edged out Mayo champions Ballintubber last Sunday without their main man Padraig Joyce. With Joyce due back in time for the provincial decider St Brigid’s will have to bring their A game to Tuam. If they do they have to have a great chance of being crowned Connacht champions.
