Having captured this year’s senior hurling title in dramatic style at the expense of Clonkill, Raharney face a difficult challenge when they entertain Offaly champions Coolderry this Sunday.
Coolderry had little difficulty in disposing of reigning champions Tullamore in their county decider. Last year Tullamore proved too strong for Clonkill when the sides clashed in the provincial campaign.
Raharney will have to keep a tight rein on Brian Carroll who put in a man of the match performance in the county final scoring seven points. Former county star Damien Murray who bagged 1-4 against Tullamore will also take plenty of watching.
For their part the Deelsiders will again be looking for big performances from the likes of Conor Jordan, Brian Connaughton, Paul Greville, John Shaw, and Frank Boyle if they are to cause an upset.
Impossible is nothing, as the ad says, but it is hard to see a happy ending in this one for the Westmeath men.
