St Brigid’s 0-21
Eastern Harps (Sligo ) 0-04
St Brigid’s certainly laid down a marker of their intentions in this year’s provincial club championship with an emphatic 17-point annihilation of Eastern Harps. The Sligo champions were disappointing to say the least and Noel O’Brien might well have been happier if his side had been faced with a tougher challenge.
Yet winning is all that matters at this stage and the home support will have been well pleased with the five star performance of the Kiltoom outfit. The defence snuffed out any potential threaths and conceded only four points over the hour with three of these coming from frees. Indeed Paul Taylor was the only Sligo man to raise a flag.
St Brigid’s in contrast had eight players who registered scores, with all players from numbers eight to 15 getting on the score sheet. The midfield pairing of Garvan Dolan and Karol Mannion dominated that vital sector and ensured a steady supply of ball to the inside forwards.
On a day when Brigid’s won every battle, the two Kilbrides, the two Dolans, Karol Mannion, the two McHughs, and David O’Connor were very much to the fore.
Next up is a semi-final meeting away to Leitrim champions Glencar-Manorhamilton.
