Westmeath company wins national landscaping award

Fernhill Landscapes of Athlone has won a national landscaping award for its work on the Piper’s Court residential development in Mullingar.  The award was won at the Association of Landscape Contractors of Ireland (ALCI ) annual awards on Friday October 10 in Belfast.  Fernhill won the Residential Development over €25,000 category.

Piper's Court is a gated, open plan development in Mullingar.   The brief was to give a very mature look to the site, to give immediate high impact. This was achieved through the planting of very large, semi-mature trees, using ground anchoring systems, and with the use of large sweeps of simple mature plants densely planted in groups creating a feeling of maturity and exclusivity throughout the development.

Fernhill Landscapes is a family run business which was established in Athlone 25 years ago. The company employs over 20 staff between the landscaping and retail garden centre businesses.

The ALCI was established 33 years ago and it works to improve and maintain high standards of landscaping throughout Ireland for both the private and public sectors.

This was the 26th year of the awards and entries were up 65 per cent on last year reflecting the growth in the industry. The awards recognise the excellent standard of landscaping and garden design achieved by landscaping companies in Ireland and judgement is based on original concept and design, standard of work in hard, and soft landscaping, integration, suitability, efficiency and overall presentation. The ALCI represents over 150 member companies.
