Funeral of Moate toddler takes place

The funeral has taken place of Moate toddler Dylan Murray Finneran, who died after he was knocked down by a car last weekend.

Family and friends gathered in St Patrick’s Church, Moate yesterday [Thursday] to say their goodbyes to the 22-month-old whose life was cut short in the tragic accident.

The grief-stricken local community has been struggling to come to terms with the loss of the bright, fun-loving child, the son of Catriona Murray and Sean Finneran.

The toddler was struck by a vehicle on Saturday afternoon while he was out playing in the Coillin Bui estate on the Clara Road, Moate.

He was rushed to the Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar with head injuries, and was later transferred by helicopter to Temple Street Children’s Hospital in Dublin, where he passed away on Monday morning.
