Mid Ireland Tourism fifth annual golf classic

Mid Ireland Tourism held their fifth annual golf classic in the County Offaly renowned Castle Barna Golf Club, one of Ireland’s hidden gems that is nestled along the banks of the Grand Canal – on the edge of Daingean town.

A large number of teams took part in the classic in what was an enjoyable day for all.

The Roll’n’Bowl Team of Brendan Egan, Noel Egan, PJ McDonald, and Finian Lynch of Portlaoise won first prize with a score of 95 with a great scoring on the back nine, closely followed in second place by Mike McMahon, Denis Brown, Michael Cormack, and Hugh Maher with their final score of 95 also. In third place were the Massbrook Pet Foods team of Paul Preston, Gerry Egan, Seamus McCormack, and Billy Kelly.

Congratulations to all teams and players who won prizes on the day. The golfers enjoyed a delicious meal and beverage in the cosy clubhouse restaurant after their round. The top 13 teams won excellent prizes and went home very happy with their winning result.

Mid Ireland Tourism would like to thank all who supported the event including Castle Barna Golf Club and the welcoming and very helpful staff in the clubhouse, the numerous sponsors, teams, and members of Mid Ireland Tourism and businesses who gave prizes.

Overall, the event was a fantastic success and will help Mid Ireland Tourism to carry out their marketing activities for the continued promotion of tourism in the Midlands.

The Team at Mid Ireland Tourism, whose office is based at the Birr Technology Centre, are currently in the process of preparing their membership drive and marketing activities for 2009. Mid Ireland Tourism looks forward to another year of successfully promoting the Mid Ireland Region and its members fine tourism products.
