Country star comes to the Greville this weekend

Westmeath resident Robert Mizzell will be playing the Greville Arms Hotel, Mullingar on Sunday September 26.

American born country singer Robert Mizzell spent his childhood days around the shores of Lake Bistineau, dreaming of being a country music star.

After graduating from Doyline High School, Robert served in the US Army, and after several jobs, events in Robert's life took him to Ireland. Once there he decided to pursue his dream to be a country music star.

Robert has made his home in Ireland for over a decade. He served his apprenticeship in country music since he first arrived here and is now one of the top country artists in Ireland, his popularity spreading with extensive airplay in Europe and such distant territories as Australia.

As anyone who has ever attended a Robert Mizzell show will testify, Robert with his band The Country Kings puts on an energy-filled show. Brimming with country flavour his shows appeal to audiences in Nashville and wherever country music is popular.

He is honoured to have been able to record with Collin Raye this year. “I got chatting with Collin afterwards at a gig in The Helix in Dublin, and he was saying that he really enjoyed my part of the show. Then I told him that I had this song that I always liked and that I'd love to record it with him. Its called “Murder on Music Row” which was a hit for Alan Jackson and George Strait. Straight up Collin said, ‘Lets do it’ and the rest is history.”

Robert currently resides near Mullingar.
