Westmeath Carers Association makes final call for carers of the year nominations

The Carers Association in Westmeath is making a final call for nominations for the organisation’s Carers of the Year and Young Carer of the Year awards. Due to the number of nominations still being received, the closing date has been extended by two weeks to Friday September 24.

The Carers Association’s Carers of the Year and Young Carer of the Year (under 18 ) awards are based on a national nomination process where members of the public, including healthcare professionals, nominate their chosen family carers. The award winners will be announced at a special ceremony later this year.

Today, there are over 161,000 family carers and over 5,500 young carers providing care in the home to older people, those with illness, and people with disabilities across Ireland.
